GREENSBORO — Three McLeansville subdivisions are no longer a part of the city after a local judge declared their 2009 annexation void.
Four McLeansville residents sued Greensboro last year to stop the planned July 1 annexation. Late last week, Judge Edwin Wilson sided with residents, who argued the city could not hold them to agreements made with the subdivisions' developers. read more

HIGH POINT -- The former Allen Jay Middle School may get resurrected one more time. School district officials will propose a new use for the school during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
The High Point school closed as a middle school in 2007 to house students and teachers of Union Hill elementary while their new school was built. The new Union Hill opened this fall. read more

DALLAS (AP) — AT&T Inc. reached a tentative agreement with a union representing about 30,000 workers in the Southeast, the company said Monday.
The union had voted down a previous agreement reached with negotiators in December, AT&T said. The new three-year agreement will be submitted to the membership of the union for a ratification vote in the coming days. read more

GREENSBORO — A Greensboro man will spend at least the next 41 years in prison after admitting to killing, tying up and setting a woman’s body on fire, a judge ruled Monday. Guilford County Superior Court Judge Andy Cromer sentenced 25-year-old Donnie Lee Ingram for killing 61-year-old Marie Byrd Nov. 25, 2008. read more

GREENSBORO – Several area fire departments received thousands in grant money last week from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
