Ergot Poisoning

My wife and I sometimes just sit down and watch TV for a couple hours. We're not really couch potatoes so it doesn't happen often but when it does, we very often notice themes from one movie to the next or one show to the next. It can really be funny how we end up connecting two random shows together.

We have Tivo (and love it) and last night we watched Ghost Whisperer on TV, then a Tivo'd episode of House.

Both shows featured Ergot poisoning - what a wacky thing to have in common!

Since we learned about it on Ghost Whisperer, you would think we'd be able to figure out what the diagnosis was on House prior to being told - but we didn't, we're very disappointed with ourselves!

Autumn

Some people think Autumn is just the transition from summer to winter. Others like my wife think of it as one of the most beautiful times of the year. We moved to NC from FL for a change of seasons so we were excited as fall approached.

A couple of newsworthy items about this, our first fall in NC. According to the news, because of the severe drought occurring here, this is supposed to be a year with less color. Then we heard on the news that October 13th was going to be the peak foliage time in Boone NC.

So Saturday October 13th, we drove out to Boone (a couple hours away) to see the fall foliage and we were a little disappointed. Almost no color at all, but it was still nice. It was nice to get out of town and spend time with the family. We took our new puppy, Sam with us, I think he had fun!

It was funny, the Monday after we went to Boone, I was telling someone about our trip and they asked "why would you drive all the way to Boone when you can stay home and see fall colors in a couple weeks?"

So maybe we'll have better luck soon by just looking out the window!

Black's Furniture

Here I am on my second post and I decided that I need to post a complaint. My wife and I ordered furniture from Black's Furniture at the end of June 2007. We were told that the furniture would be delivered in 6 - 8 weeks.

We ordered dining room furniture including, table, chairs, side tables. We ordered living room furniture including tables, chairs and a sofa. We ordered bedroom furniture including a bed, night stands, armoire, television cabinet.

Its now getting toward the end of October and we still don't have any furniture. We have called numerous times, but real people never answer the phone, we always have to leave a message. Then we get messages left for us in the middle of the day when we're not here.

One day we had success when my wife happened to be home for one of their returned calls and it turns out that one of the pieces is back ordered. Everything else is in, but they won't deliver until everything is in. If we want two deliveries we need to pay two delivery charges.

I worked in retail for a while and I understand their side of this, but what I don't understand the lack of customer service and rudeness of people that we have talked to or those who have left messages. They act like we are an inconvenience for them when we call.

I feel better now that I've posted this...

U P D A T E
Friday October 19th - the day after this was posted, we got a call from Black's Furniture... Our furniture is in! Now we just need it delivered...
